Yugen Series - No 118
Part of the Yugen series, this wall piece captures the immediacy and depth of a spontaneous gesture. Created by pouring porcelain slip onto a plaster bat, it is then layered with metallic glaze in a single, intuitive motion. Where the glaze pools most heavily, it forms a rich, beaded texture—an alchemical reaction between material and fire that adds depth and dimension.
The resulting composition feels like a form of abstract scripture—a symbol drawn from the unconscious, where meaning lingers just out of reach. Mounted on a wooden panel surfaced with groggy black clay, the contrast between luminous porcelain and the dark, textured background heightens the sense of something sacred or ancient being unearthed.
