Named for the Japanese word meaning “wise,” this vessel is a reimagining of the original Waizu form, embracing individuality through variation. Constructed from hand-cut slabs of chocolate brown stoneware, it is gently pressed into a mold to establish structure while allowing natural distortions to emerge.

A layer of black slip, applied at the leather-hard stage, deepens the surface with rich tonal contrast that complements the clay’s raw texture. Sealed with a satin sheen, the finish highlights subtle shifts in form and color. Sculptural yet grounded, this vessel holds quiet strength and tactile nuance—an elegant exploration of wisdom expressed through material.
